Canara celebrates the festivities in honour of the Virgen de la Peña with an intense programme of events.

The religious services of the Patron Saint, the running of the bulls and the performance of Lorena Santos and David Jiménez, among the most important events, which will be proclaimed by María Isabel González.

After several days of previous events, the village of Canara will officially begin its fiestas in honour of the Virgen de la Peña on Monday, the 14th of August, with the parade of the Patron Saint from its sanctuary to the village church. The town, whose main economic mainstay are greenhouses and the flower sector, has been preparing for these festivities for months.

The fiestas will be announced on Tuesday, the 15th of August, by the journalist María Isabel González, and will continue until Sunday, the 20th of August, when the image of the Virgin returns in parade to its sanctuary, bringing the celebrations to an end.

The intense programme of events put together by the Festivities Commission includes religious services for the Patron Saint, bull running and exhibitions of bulls and a performance by the artists Lorena Santos and David Jiménez, on the night of Friday the 18th of August. Every day there will be musical performances and those attending will also receive free gastronomic tastings.
