The archaeological site of Begastri: a special enclave to enjoy the Perseid night

On Saturday the 12th of August, a group of 40 people from various parts of the region and Alicante enjoyed a night of Perseids in a very special place: the archaeological site of Begastri.

The Department of Tourism, run by José Antonio Zafra, with the Archaeological Museum run by Paco Aroca Peñalver, organised in collaboration with Gema G. de Maya of Astroversia, this astronomical experience which highlights the heritage of Cehegín and brings us closer to the stars.

The experience included a talk at the Begastri interpretation centre where we discovered the cosmovision of prehistoric man through archaeological remains from different parts of the planet.

Later, next to the site, we enjoyed an astronomical observation, learning to identify the main constellations of the summer sky and their mythology, accompanied by observation of various celestial objects at night through a telescope.

An experience that brings the stars together joining past, present and future.
