FIESTAS OF EL CHAPARRAL
The residents of El Chaparral have as their patron saint the Virgen de la Asunción, whom they venerate in the small temple built in 1976, designed by the Murcian architect Alfredo Vera Botí.
The district of El Chaparral celebrates their Fiestas in honour of the Virgen de la Asunción during the first fortnight of August.
The big day of the festivities is on the 15th of August, a day in which a floral offering to the Patroness will take place followed by a mass and a procession with the image of the Virgin.
The Gastronomy is the leading role in the Fiestas with the elaboration of Migas and rices by the neighbours. A foam party, musical and children’s performances and fireworks are some of the activities that are held.
